The gift of Floating
The Christmas Holiday season can be magical, fun-filled and exciting. It can also be exhausting and stressful. There are cookies to make, presents to buy (and wrap), parties to attend and year end deadlines to meet. Why not take some time and hit the PAUSE and RESET button. Book a FLOAT and recharge your batteries. Do you know someone who could benefit from a TIME OUT? Give them the gift of NOTHING: The peaceful quiet of a float.
Not convinced that gifting a Float session is one of the best gifts you could give? Here are 5 additional reasons to give the gift of Float therapy this Christmas:
1. Floating can help relieve stress and anxiety.
Floatation Tanks have many benefits. Reducing stress and anxiety is just one of many positive outcomes regular floating brings with it. By creating a calm and quiet environment, you are encouraged to be still and relaxed, often placing you in a meditative state. This is extremely relaxing for the mind and the body. This relaxed meditative state helps to lower cortisol (the stress hormone), which in turn can assist with lowering blood pressure and much more. The Laureate Institute for Brain research in Tulsa Oklahoma recently published a float study conducted in patients suffering from both anxiety and depression.
2. The gift of Float Therapy is
Floating is an extremely personal experience. It can offer profound relief to someone who’s struggling with grief, work stress, recurring physical pain or emotional difficulties. Maybe the person you gift the Float to is a busy parent who barely has time for themselves, but desperately needs some peace and quiet to recharge their batteries. We recently had a client come in to purchase a Couples Float for her daughter and son in law. On the Gift certificate she wrote: “Includes free babysitting by Grandma.”
The person or people you choose to gift a float to may not necessarily share their struggles, but this gift will show them that you are there for them and truly want to help and to see them overcome their hurdles.
3. Floating is more than just a gift…it’s an experience.
The general trend over the past few years is to be more eco friendly with gift giving. Giving EXPERIENCES instead of THINGS has become
popular and more appreciated. With experiences, you give memories. A Float Therapy gift is just that: an experience that they will continue with for many
years. Warning: Floating can be life changing and may become a positive habit. In all seriousness though, Floating is not like chocolates that will be eaten, or electronics that will break. The thought that goes into this gift is not forgotten because NOBODY forgets their first float.
4. It may help with those Fitness Resolutions in the New Year.
There is nothing worse than setting your fitness goals for the New Year and getting off to a fantastic start the first week, only to slow down the following week. Not so much because of lack of motivation, but because
it suddenly becomes too hard to even get into the car to go to the gym. (It
also becomes harder to go to the bathroom, lift a coffee cup, walk up or down a flights of stairs or laugh!)
For years athletes have soaked in Epsom Salts to relieve muscle tension and aches. Floating has been known to improve recovery after strenuous athletic performance. (Yes, going to the gym counts as strenuous.) Basically Floating helps by reducing Lactic Acid build up, assisting with the elimination of fatigue and improving oxygen circulation and reducing cortisol levels (stress hormones). Many athletes use the Float Tanks, Pods or Float rooms to help reduce their recovery time post workout.
(Name drop: Stephan Curry, Joe Rogan, Pat Healy, Tom Brady, Wayne Rooney, Carl Lewis, Susan Saradon, The Australian Sports Institute, The Dallas Cowboys, The Cubs, The Patriots and so many more.) More importantly, our beloved local Junior “A” hockey team THE SURREY EAGLES Float to improve their game and recovery.
5. Deep and restful sleep.
When was the last time you woke up feeling truly rested and refreshed? More often than not you wake up the next morning and don’t feel fully refreshed from your sleep. When you float, your brain waves slow down to the Alpha, Theta and Delta state. Theta state is also referred to as the dream state, where the brain emits colours, memories and shapes into dreams. Delta state is one of deep mental rest. (No memory of dreams.) Basically, your brain
is able to slow down and restore itself and therefore restore health to your body.
These are only 5 of many reasons to Float and to give the gift of Floating. As our friends at Luna Float often say:“WATER YOU WAITING FOR?” Give them a gift they truly will appreciate.
Take the stress out of shopping this year. Book a Float, pick up a gift card for someone special in your life, and spend more time enjoying the Holiday season. Float…Breathe…Repeat!
